                The Bakas Cooprerative Development concerned for the betterment of their coomunity as they provide jobs, programs and the needs of the community. They look and think the posible things needed for the development of their community.

                     The members of the coop give their full support and efforts to the activities of coop for the community and they prioritize first and foremost their community before themselves and they shows the importance of each other walks to developed community.

REFLECTIONS:

                   I’ve learned that everyone is imporatant for the success of community..

                   I’ve noticed that coop counteract the selfishness of members and coop as the model of being cooperative to the community..

                   I’ve learned that concerning for the community is also  one of the best framework walks to developed community..

Member Participation in Coop Conectivity

                   The  Bakas Cooperative Development assuring the connectivity of their members through activities that they conducted, General Assembly and ofcoures their relationship as thay entertain them and relationship with God together.They allowed the membes to express their talent and ability for the progress of the organization, their feelings and opinions in the proposal programs of coop and their freedom to vote.The coop give the needs of members financially and even intellectually as long a they can.

                       As given back, the members followed the rules and regulations, give the full support for the progress of coop and they respect whatever the decision made for the coop.

REFLECTIONS:

                     I’ve realized the cooperation among cooperatives is one of the best framework for the successfulness of coop, community and even themselves..

                     I’ve learned that cooperation is best than competition..

The Member Participation in Cooperative Education, Training and Information of Bakas Cooperative Development

                 The Bakas Cooperative Development conducts pre-membership and education seminar or PMES to inform the real meaning of coop, to explain why the coop is better than the other organization, to tell the resources of funds, to explain the different services offered by coops, to aware them to the rules and regulations and principle practices of coop, to inform the duties and responsibilities as a member, officers and management and production staff of coops.

                         The Education Team of Bakas Cooperative Development are Lucy Fabular, Louie Tabang and Narcisa Reglos.The Education Team conducts education, training and information; they conducts regular seminar to members and to not already members; they notice carefully the posible members to be the members of BOD; they observe and recommend the posible members for the position of officer and they are the one who do public services.

REFLECTIONS:

               I’ve known that the coop is not just helping the members financially but to enlighten them through education, training and information..

               I’ve known the relations and importance of education, training and information to cooperative and members..

The Bakas Cooperative Development Members Participation in Coop Governance

                      The Bakas Cooperative Development, assured that there is democratically controlled by the members when they have the agreements with the other organization and they shows that the power or authority is in their members specially in decision making.

                        The member are the main priority and they are the highest in all position in terms in coop.They have the powerful authority to vote and to decide of what is the best for the coop which followed by the officers.

 REFLECTIONS:

                I’ve learned that in every proposal of the officers of the Bakas Cooperative Development the decision will depend upon the members.

                I’ve noticed that Cooperative is a MASSIVE organizatrion.

         

Member Ecomomic Participation

The Bakas Cooperative Development’s ARTICLE II MEMBERS BENEFITS section 1: PATRONAGE REFUND: a member is entitled to patronage refund in consumer sector if he/she paid the minimum amount of share capital five hundred pesos;computation of patronage refund will depend on the net income of the consumer sector in a specified year. Individual patronage will be % of the consumer patronage computed according to By Laws; in producer sector, since customers are foreigners the producer workers will be benefited if the producer sector had an income. He/she must be a member/worker of the Bakas cooperative. The patronage will depend on their salary. Individual patronage will be % of the producer patronage computed according to By Laws; and credit sector patronage,will depend on how much loan a member had avail within a year. Member’s patronage will be % of the credit sector patronage computed according to By Laws. Section 2: DIVIDEND: a member shall have a dividend if he/she had paid the minimum amount of share capital five hundred pesos before the specified cut off date of the year; the dividend of member will depend on the share capital he/she had paid up.Computation will depend on the net income of the cooperative in a specified year; and both dividend and patronage are computed within a year and summarized as one per member. Deductions are specified as By Laws 70% will be return to members and 30% will be for Cooperatives: education, social, and general reserve fund.Section 3: DIVIDEND/PATRONAGE DEDUCTION: members whose share capital build up within a year is less than the required amount one peso per day: three hundred sixty five pesos per year shall be deducted at their dividend/patronage for the year; members with over due accounts, their dividend/patronage for the year will be appllied as payment for their accounts; and Tulungan Fund benefit release for the members, 5% for share capital, Php.50.00 for absent in General Assembly meeting. Secton 4: CREDIT LINE AND LOANS: members can avail credit line consumer sector if if he/she had paid up the minimum amount of five hundred after 3 months of pre-membership seminar. It will depend on his/her share capital. 1/2 of the share capital will be his/her credit line or a maximum of one thousand pesos per month whichever is the highest. It is payable within a month, 2% will be added to the remaining balance, if not paid within a month; members can avail any kind of loan after 3 months of his/her pre-membership seminar. The credit committee will decide for the loans of members as scheduled per month. Application of loans will be for scheduling. All kinds of loans are subject for approval of credit policy of the Bakas Cooperative; application of regular loan will be scheduled by the loan officer. Members who are scheduled for the current month will come every 1st Friday of the month. The release of loan will be one week after application; the amount of loan for release evry month will depend on the last month cash collection. It will depend also on the current bank balance; a member can avail any kind of loan as long as he/she has no balance. Upon full payment of current loan, after one month for schedule of another loan; and application of loan for new member will 3 months after full payment of minimum share capital five hundred pesos.

REFLECTIONS:

I’ve learned that not all the members could avail loan unless he/she qualify for it.

I’ve learned that aside from salary given to members they will recieve dividend and patronage refund.

I’ve noticed that there was an exchange benefits between members and the coop, like, when the members support the Bakas Consumers Cooperative the Bakas consumer coop will continously rising and the members will recieve patronage refund at the same time.

The Bakas Cooperative Development election’s policy, CHOOSING CANDIDATES: qualifications for candidates are should be a Filipino citizen, belong to MIGS (member in good standing), living in Pangarap Village Caloocan City, passed the pre-membership seminar and subscribed the share capital of at least 500.00, with dedication in serving, willing to give his/her time, knowledges and ability for the progress of cooperative, active in any activities of cooperatives and always attending the General Assembly and must be 18 years old above. Disqualifications for candidates are the member’s joined in the other cooperative where the Bakas Cooperative Development located, committed criminal sins, gas the position in any sector of government not unless below of this and he/she have proved as black sheep of Cooperatives.

As before the election happen, the Bakas Cooperative Development undertakes all the qualified nominees in screening and after passing the screening the nominees will receive a certificate of candidacy that he/she gave to the elections committee or the nominees are the one will personally submit his/her candidacy to election committee. The election committee will check if there is quorum in the General Assembly and at least no candidates/nominees will accept in the day of election.The election committee are the one who will lead and organize the elections which happens every General Assembly. The election committee should allow only those members in good standing to vote. In the election day, the members practice “one man, one vote” and the winners will announce by the election committee. The president of Bakas will take the elected committees to do oath taking and the vice president is the one who will declare them officially. After elections, the newly elected committees will call for a meeting of their group and to choose or decide of a vice president and secretary and etc. The past committee will make a notes about the current happenings and will take it over to the newly elected committee.

REFLECTIONS:

I’ve known that before the person become a nominee he/she should be qualified and afterwards will he/she undertakes screening and pass it.

I’ve known also the duties and responsibilities of the elections committee and on how they organize the election day.

I’ve learned that with the used of policy and preparation and cooperation in elections is important to have a good committee and for the success of the cooperatives and community.

Bakas Cooperative Development connecting to the 1st Areas the ‘Voluntary and Open MEMBERSHIP’

Brief History:

                     Bakas Cooperative Development (multi-purpose cooperative)

                          Carpa st. Lower Tawi-Tawin Pangarap Vill. Cal. City

Bakas-means helping each other for the progress of the community, sharing all the resources (money) and all the footmarks to the pathway of succes.

                  Year 1988,the Vedruna Building was built through the donations of “Bigay Puso” ( Mrs. Zobel, Prieto, TUazon and etc.). In 1989, 12 persons decided to collect peso everyday for the Capital until they earned 8,000.00 and so they built a “sari-sari store” which they operated. Later on, they are 34 members who doing smocking dress and operating the store until they started making 3 in 1 stuff toys with the help of Carmelite Sisters with the lead of Sr. Ana Martinez de Luco.

               Year 1990, the Bakas Cooperative Development was created that was suggested by Sr. Judith Posadas of Carmelite Sisters of Charity.

                Year 1992,t the Bakas Cooperative Development  has 3 sectors: Consumer (store), Producer (stuff toys factory) and Credit (lending).

Members Integration into the Coop:

               Late in the morning, I went to the Bakas Cooperative Development to have some interview anyone in the officers of coop.I was met the secretery named Mary Ann Lara and I pleased her to answers my list of questions for a while and she agreed. She gave me the papers were I could found the answers. I asked heer to give me permission to photocopy those papers and she agreed. After photocopying I gave it back to her.

                Their Policy of Membership, Article 1: Membership, section 1: SHARE CAPITAL stated that a member shall subscribe for atleast 25 shares of the capital stock of the cooperative valued at five hundred pesos each. Atleast two hundred forty pesos corresponding to 12 shares shall vbe paid upon the submission of the application for membership; subscription agreement will be upon submission of application form. The subscription of share capital will be within 3 months upon completion of the Pre-membership seminar as scheduled quarterly by the cooperative. Any amount paid below five hundred will be forfeited after 3 months; a maximum of 25% of the paid up share capital of the cooperative or twenty thousand pesos paid up capital of the member whichever is the highest; declaration of dividend will be every 15th day of December. Sahare capital paid up before December 15 can avail the Dividend for the year. The share capital paid up after December 15, shall be covered for the next year dividend. Computation of Dividend will be peso month basis; the continous capital build up of atleast one peso per day for every member.

              Section 2: SHARE OFFSETTING stated that as per GA meeting, that the members whose non moving account was more than two years, the share capital will be applied as payment to her/his account. He/she will recieve a letter from Bakas before termination, for confirmation of their own account and a letter of termination will be follow if not settled in a certain period of time; the share offsetting will be within 3 months. Twenty five percent of the total account will be paid upon recieving a letter of Resignation/Termination. Any account as the remaining balance after offsetting will be payable within 3 months with 1% interest.Monthly penalty of 1% for the remaining unpaid balance; members who work with the cooperative competitors shall automatically terminated at the Bakas Cooperative.

                 Section 3: GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING stated that every year the General Assembly meeting will be 3rd Sunday of March; no attendance in General Assembly, fifty pesos will be deducted at her/his patronage/dividend.

                The Bakas Cooperative Development’s qualification for membership are must be 18 years old and above, voluntary and willing for responsibilty and commitment and resident of Pangarap Vill. Cal. City. The application form which the secretary gave to me contains the agreements and name, address, age, date of birth, nickname, tel. num., place of birth, sex, civil satus, educ. background, dependents, and at the buttom are date were seminar conducted, BOD actions on application (either approved, disapproved or hold), members, secretary, educ. com. and chairman signature.

                 The Bakas Cooperative Development’s Education Committee are Mrs. Lucy Fabular, Mr. Louie Tabang and Mrs. Narcisa Reglos who conducted educ. seminar for members and for not already members, they could recommend a person thet can be a member of BOD and they works on the realations of public services.

REFLECTIONS:

                    I have learned the duties and responsibilities of the educ. com. and the forms of Members Integration into the Coop. I have known the membership policy and their qualification which added to my knoweldges about the Cooperatives…
